INVITATION
I have the great
pleasure to write to you this letter regarding the
inauguration of my book GREY SHADOWS concerning our
discoveries in the sea of Alexandria, as my team and I
discovered 20 wrecks of World War I & II, sunk in the
Egyptian Mediterranean.
We also managed to reach
the families of the military who were on these ships
during the wars. They sent us their stories and photos
which help to enrich the histories of this period with
real stories written at that time.
One of
these stories was sent to me by the grand son of a nurse
on board of a troop ship sank in Alexandria 1917, during
WWI, in form of a letter written by a second officer on
board of the ship S.S. ARAGON. This letter explains what
happened exactly to this ship since it came out of
Southampton in England then to Marseilles, then spending
Christmas in Crete island, and finally how the ship sunk
by German Torpedo and the second officer saved the life
of two nurses on board. He explained how they swam to
another British destroyer which sunk also after 40
minutes of the first ship by another German Torpedo, 40
miles of
Alexandria
harbor.
This story has been chosen
by the star Omar Sharif who wrote preface for the book,
about the wrecks and sent it to the American cinema
director Steven Spielberg to create a movie about it.
The French
Consulate and
Cultural
Center
of
Alexandria
decided to inaugurate this book with the writer and in
the presence of the star Omar Sharif who will attend the
inauguration, there will be films about these wrecks, 40
photos and many objects found on them. Families of the
heroes who were on board at that time are invited too.
We have
the great pleasure to invite you to this event which
will be hold in
Alexandria
on 11th of November in the
French
Cultural
Center
at 18h30, as the 11th of November corresponds
to the commemoration of the end of First World War.
We are looking forward to

بمناسبة افتتاح معرض
الإكتشافات البحرية الجديدة لعديد من سفن الحرب العالمية
الأولى الغارقة بالإسكندرية و الحصول على القصص التاريخية
لأفراد الطاقم قبل غرق هذه السفن أمام سواحل الإسكندرية –
نتشرف بالإحاطة بأننا قمنا بدعوة النجم عمر الشريف و
مستشاره للحضور للإسكندرية لإفتتاح معرض و كتاب( الظلال
الرمادية ) الإكتشافات الجديدة تحت بحر الإسكندرية و الذي
قام سيادته بكتابة تعليق على الكتاب و قد اختار النجم عمر
الشريف إحدى القصص التي حدثت على إحدى السفن الحربية و هي
قصة واقعية كتبت عام 1917 أثناء الحرب العالمية الأولى
لعرضها على المخرج العالمي ستفين سبيلبيرج لعمل فيلم عالمي
عن هذه القصة التي دارت أحداثها بالكامل بالإسكندرية و
مياهها الإقليمية.
و سوف يعرض المعرض ماكيتات و
صور و أفلام للسفن الغارقة و صور الطاقم الذي كان عليها و
عمل بمستشفيات الإسكندرية و غيرها من الأحداث المثيرة التي
سيعرضها الفيلم الذي يخرجه المخرج العالمي ستيفن سبيلبيرج.
ستنعقد هذ الأحداث في المركز
الثقافي و القنصلية الفرنسية في الفترة في 11 نوفمبر
2009 و هو اليوم الذي يحتفل فيه العالم بنهاية الحرب
العالمية الأولى و نؤكد أن هذا الحدث سوف ينال تغطية
اعلامية عظيمة و يحضره لفيف من نجوم السينما المصرية و
العالمية و الهيئات الدبلوماسية و شركات السياحة العالمية
و المصرية و سوف تنعكس بطبيعة الحال على السياحة
بالإسكندرية.
و قد قامت شركة مصر للطيران
بحجز تذاكر الطيران للنجم و مستشاره و كما قام فندق هيلتون
جرين بلازا بحجز جناحين و اقامة كاملة للنجمين مساهمة
منهما لأحداث فتح باب اقامة أول فيلم بمستوى عالمي
بالإسكندرية.
و نتشرف بدعوة
سيادتكم لحضور هذا المؤتمر العالمي بالمركز الثقافي
الفرنسي و القنصلية الفرنسية بالإسكندرية.
