FPA ACTIVITY REPORT

COVERING THE EVENTS BETWEEN 1/1/2007 AND 12/31/2007

(A) Press Conferences:

The FPA Board during the year 2007 gather regularly to achieve as much as we can many activities, as we start our work at the new office from February 2007, we concern most of our effort to make our office ready of hosting the press gathering.

We succeed to host a group of French journalists and researches visiting Egypt, H.E. the Saudi Arabia Press attaché Mr. Motlaq Al-Moterey, also the FPA gathering of the General Assembly Meeting 2007.

the FPA held a Joined activity with the Yemeni Cultural Center, a Slide Show Projector under the title Yemen in Western Eyes a photos collection taken by, Cris Brouncle, Javier Martin and Mike Nelson, The photos show followed by an open discussion with FPA members and Yemen Cultural Center's guest

Three out of eight press photographers, Mike Nelson; Thomas Hartwell and Salah Ibrahim, are the winners of the photo contest organized by the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) on the occasion of the commemoration of its 100^th birthday, in cooperation with the Cairo Foreign Press Association, under the motto “Miracles of Egypt’s glorious past”.

We send a total of 136 message expressing the FPA and non FPA activity we share with others

(B) FPA Trips & Visits :

FPA Visit to Deir Abu Hinnis, Upper Egypt, on January 26-27, 2007, the 6^th century cave church and caves hermits used to live in. meets the muqarassat (nuns) in Deir Abu Hinnis, Mallawi's church guesthouse, interview with Bishop Dimitrius of Mallawi.

February: FPA Visit to Al-Sadat Industrial City, meeting the city's chairman expressing the latest projects and factories, visit to some Factories, Seramica Al-Gawhara, Al-Ezz factory for Iron, Regina Factory for Schwepis, Juices and Mineral Waters, Visit to the Egyptian-Chinese Friendship’s Forest.

February: The FPA prepares a two-day visit to Alexandria and Borg El Arab by train, a meeting with the governor Adel Labib, visit of the new installations in Alexandria Harbour, a round trip a visit of the excellent National Heritage Museum and a meeting with its director, a visit of the famous Bibliotheca Alexandrina, followed by a visit of Burg El Arab and two factories.

June : a visit of the German University in Cairo (GUC), Germany's first higher academic institution beyond the German borders, received by the founding director and CEO Prof. Dr. Asraf Mansour, the university director Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Kader, a tour through the large campus, including laboratories, the Festo Academy, the industrial park and Material Testing Unit.

July & December: the headquarter of Suez Canal Authority at Ismailiya, meeting with Field marshal Ahmed Aly Fadel, a boat ride on the Suez Canal, the Beach Club of the Suez Canal Authority, also another visit by end of the year

October , FPA arrange a visit to Al-Alamein on the occasion of the 65^th anniversary of the historic Battle of El Alamein between Field Marshall Rommel and General Montgomery, coverage the commemoration ceremonies, visit to the Museum and the battlefield

March: the visas and press credentialing for the Arab League Summit at Saudi Arabia have facilitated to the FPA members in Riyadh from 25-29 March.

The proposed trip to Libya (15 to 21 April) has been postponed The visit still in the FPA board agenda and will take place at a later date as soon as the decision makers in Tripoli inform us of a new date and hopefully provide us with a detailed program.

Also we join the Arab Media Forum 4" Jordan 16-18 April 2007, the Arab Awards for Innovation Media

(D) Social Activities:

February, the New Year party, was scheduled for Thursday 28 June at the Nile Peking Steamboat, has been postponed because of lack of interest.

October, the FPA held a joined Iftar gathering in Ramadan at the garden of the German embassy in Zamalek, the members and participate join the tombola with a lot of prizes

The FPA shared with other many organization a lot of activities sent during the year 2007, number of messages sent to our members reach to 136 FPA news for year 2007, shared with exhibitions, Embassies, Governorates, UN Branches activities, Private sectors, Ministries, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Universities, International Events, Workshopsa, Symposiums and etc.

(E) Publications:

FPA calendar: with cooperation of the FPA members giving a good photos to publish in year 2007 calendar, with highly quality we can offer. This year’s FPA calendar theme was "Arabian Wonders"

FPA Directory: As the new edition directory of the FPA-Foreign Press Association 2007 is appear by Middle of the year, our plan to print it with a new shape starting of Middle year 2008

(F) FPA Office:

The FPA office, looking for the FPA activities, during this year we face the obligations of adapting our office to host the journalism activity and members meetings, in spite of our very limit budget, we receive our office empty but we succeed to complete furnished, adding office desks, more seated corner, TV set with satellite channels, a wireless ADSL internet via our office, a laptop computer, kitchen needs, we can say proudly that our office is ready to welcome your social and friendly gathering
